And I besought thy disciples
The nine disciples that were left behind, whilst Christ, and the other three, were gone up to the mountain:

to cast him out;
the devil out of his child:

and they could not;

38 Ed ecco, un uomo dalla folla esclamò: Maestro, te ne prego, volgi lo sguardo al mio figliuolo; è l’unico ch’io abbia;
39 ed ecco uno spirito lo prende, e subito egli grida, e lo spirito lo getta in convulsione facendolo schiumare, e a fatica si diparte da lui, fiaccandolo tutto.
40 Ed ho pregato i tuoi discepoli di cacciarlo, ma non hanno potuto.
41 E Gesù, rispondendo, disse: O generazione incredula e perversa, fino a quando sarò io con voi e vi sopporterò?
42 Mena qua il tuo figliuolo. E mentre il fanciullo si avvicinava, il demonio lo gettò per terra e lo torse in convulsione; ma Gesù sgridò lo spirito immondo, guarì il fanciullo, e lo rese a suo padre.
