Mark 12:18

Then came unto him the Sadducees
The same day, immediately after he had silenced the Pharisees and Herodians: these were a set of men distinct from the former, in some of their sentiments, especially in their religions ones, and particularly in the following:

which say there is no resurrection:
of the dead, in a literal sense, either general or particular; (See Gill on Matthew 22:23);

and they asked him, saying;
as in the next verse.

16 Ed essi glielo portarono. Ed egli disse loro: Di chi è questa effigie e questa iscrizione? Essi gli dissero:
17 Di Cesare. Allora Gesù disse loro: Rendete a Cesare quel ch’è di Cesare, e a Dio quel ch’è di Dio. Ed essi si maravigliarono di lui.
18 Poi vennero a lui de’ Sadducei, i quali dicono che non v’è risurrezione, e gli domandarono:
19 Maestro, Mosè ci lasciò scritto che se il fratello di uno muore e lascia moglie senza figliuoli, il fratello ne prenda la moglie e susciti progenie a suo fratello.
20 Or v’erano sette fratelli. Il primo prese moglie; e morendo, non lasciò progenie.
