Job 41:24

24 His heart is hard as a stone, hard as the nether millstone.

Job 41:24 Meaning and Commentary

Job 41:24

His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of
the nether [millstone].
] Which must be understood not of the substance but of the qualities of it, being bold, courageous, undaunted, and unmerciful; which is true both of the whale and crocodile, and particularly of the crocodile: Aelianus F26 relates of one sort of them that they are unmerciful, though elsewhere F1, he represents them as fearful.

Job 41:24 In-Context

22 In his neck abides strength, and terror dances before him.
23 The folds of his flesh cleave together, firmly cast upon him and immovable.
24 His heart is hard as a stone, hard as the nether millstone.
25 When he raises himself up the mighty are afraid; at the crashing they are beside themselves.
26 Though the sword reaches him, it does not avail; nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin.
