And Solomon sent to Hiram
A letter, either by the hand of his ambassadors when they returned, as Kimchi thinks, or by ambassadors Solomon sent on purpose. Josephus ^F23 appeals to the Tyrian archives for the genuineness of these letters that passed between Hiram and Solomon; and Eupolemus, an Heathen writer ^F24 has both this which Solomon sent to Hiram, and that which Hiram sent in answer to it, which agree with those in the sacred records:

1 Hiram rey de Tiro envió también sus siervos a Salomón, luego que oyó que lo habían ungido por rey en lugar de su padre; porque Hiram había siempre amado a David.

2 Entonces Salomón envió a decir a Hiram:

3 Tú sabes como mi padre David no pudo edificar casa al nombre del SEÑOR su Dios, por las guerras que le cercaron, hasta que el SEÑOR puso sus enemigos bajo las plantas de sus pies.

4 Ahora el SEÑOR mi Dios me ha dado reposo por todas partes; que ni hay adversarios, ni mal encuentro.

5 Yo por tanto he determinado ahora edificar Casa al nombre del SEÑOR mi Dios, como el SEÑOR lo habló a David mi padre, diciendo: Tu hijo, que yo pondré en lugar tuyo en tu trono, él edificará casa a mi nombre.
