Thus saith the Lord of hosts
Of the celestial host of angels, and of the army of Israel, yea, of all the armies of the earth: this is premised to engage the attention of Saul:

I remember that which Amalek did to Israel;
four hundred years ago:

how he laid wait for him in the way when he came up from Egypt;
in the valley of Rephidim, just before they came to Mount Sinai, and fell upon the rear of them, and smote the feeble, and faint, and weary, see ( Exodus 17:8 ) ( Deuteronomy 25:17-19 )

1 Y Samuel dijo a Saúl: el SEÑOR me envió a que te ungiese por rey sobre su pueblo Israel; oye, pues, la voz de las palabras del SEÑOR.

2 Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Me acuerdo de lo que hizo Amalec a Israel; que se le opuso en el camino, cuando subía de Egipto.

3 Ve pues, y hiere a Amalec, y destruiréis en él todo lo que tuviere; y no tengas piedad de él; mata hombres y mujeres, niños y mamantes, vacas y ovejas, camellos y asnos.

4 Y Saúl juntó al pueblo, y los reconoció en Telaim, doscientos mil hombres de a pie, y diez mil varones de Judá.

5 Y viniendo Saúl a la ciudad de Amalec, puso emboscada en el valle.
