1 Samuel 7:4

Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth,
&c.] Both their male and female deities, of which see ( Judges 2:13 ) ( 3:7 )

and served the Lord Only;
Dr. Lightfoot F9 observes, that a spirit of repentance and conversion came generally upon all the people; a matter and a time as remarkable as almost any we read of in Scripture, one only parallel to it; and that is in Acts, chapters two and three, at the great conversion there.

2 Y aconteci贸 que desde el d铆a que lleg贸 el arca a Quiriat-jearim pasaron mucho d铆as, veinte a帽os; y toda la casa de Israel se lamentaba en pos del SE脩OR.
3 Y habl贸 Samuel a toda la casa de Israel, diciendo: Si de todo vuestro coraz贸n os volv茅is al SE脩OR, quitad los dioses ajenos y a Astarot de entre vosotros, y preparad vuestro coraz贸n al SE脩OR, y servid a 茅l s贸lo, y 茅l os librar谩 de mano de los filisteos.
4 Entonces los hijos de Israel quitaron a los baales y a Astarot, y sirvieron s贸lo al SE脩OR.
5 Y Samuel dijo: Juntad a todo Israel en Mizpa, y yo orar茅 por vosotros al SE脩OR.
6 Y junt谩ndose en Mizpa, sacaron agua, y la derramaron delante del SE脩OR, y ayunaron aquel d铆a, y dijeron all铆: Contra el SE脩OR hemos pecado. Y juzg贸 Samuel a los hijos de Israel en Mizpa.
