9 Y todo el pueblo porfiaba en todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: El rey nos ha librado de mano de nuestros enemigos, y él nos ha salvado de mano de los filisteos; y ahora había huido, de la tierra por miedo de Absalón.

2 Samuel 19:9

And all the people were at strife through all the tribes of
Israel
Excepting the tribe of Judah; they blamed and reproved one another for taking part with Absalom in the rebellion, and especially for their coldness and backwardness in bringing back David to Jerusalem:

saying, the king saved us out of the hand of our enemies;
exposed his life to danger, fought our battles for us, and gained us victory over our enemies, and saved us from them, especially those next mentioned:

and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines;
in the times of Saul, and since; which were benefits which ought to have endeared him to them, and were aggravations of the crime of those who had been concerned in the late rebellion; and were such as ought not to be buried in oblivion, and were proper arguments to engage them to return to their allegiance to him, and abide by it:

and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom;
being obliged to quit Jerusalem, and the land of Judea on this side Jordan, and to pass that river; not from a spirit of cowardice, but from tenderness to his son, he did not choose to fight against; and from a concern for his metropolis Jerusalem, lest that should be hurt, as well as for the safety of his person.

7 Levántate pues ahora, y sal fuera, y habla al corazón de tus siervos; porque juro por el SEÑOR, que si no sales, ni aun uno quede contigo esta noche; y de esto te pesará más que de todos los males que te han sobrevenido desde tu juventud hasta ahora.

8 Entonces se levantó el rey, y se sentó a la puerta; y fue declarado a todo el pueblo, diciendo: He aquí el rey está sentado a la puerta. Y vino todo el pueblo delante del rey; mas Israel había huido, cada uno a sus estancias.

9 Y todo el pueblo porfiaba en todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: El rey nos ha librado de mano de nuestros enemigos, y él nos ha salvado de mano de los filisteos; y ahora había huido, de la tierra por miedo de Absalón.

10 Y Absalón, a quien habíamos ungido sobre nosotros, es muerto en la batalla. ¿Por qué pues os estáis ahora quedos en orden a hacer volver al rey?

11 Y el rey David envió a Sadoc y a Abiatar sacerdotes, diciendo: Hablad a los ancianos de Judá y decidles: ¿Por qué seréis vosotros los postreros en volver el rey a su casa, ya que la palabra de todo Israel ha venido al rey de volverle a su casa?
