42 para que huyese allí el homicida que matase a su prójimo por yerro, sin haber tenido enemistad con él desde ayer ni desde anteayer; y que huyendo a una de estas ciudades viviese:

Deuteronomy 4:42

That the slayer might flee thither
For refuge; the slayer of a man, but not any slayer, but

which should kill his neighbour unawares;
by accident to him, without any design and intention to kill him; ignorantly, as the Septuagint version; and so Onkelos:

and hated him not in times past;
it having never appeared that there had been a quarrel between them, and that the slayer had shown any enmity to the man slain any time before the fact, or bore a grudge against him, or spite unto him:

and that, fleeing unto one of these cities, he might live;
in peace and safety unto his own death, or unto the death of the high priest, when he was released from his confinement to the city of his refuge, and might return to his tribe, house, family, and possessions.

40 Y guarda sus estatutos y sus mandamientos, que yo te mando hoy, para que te vaya bien a ti y a tus hijos después de ti, y tengas muchos días sobre la tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da para siempre.

41 Entonces apartó Moisés tres ciudades de este lado del Jordán al nacimiento del sol,

42 para que huyese allí el homicida que matase a su prójimo por yerro, sin haber tenido enemistad con él desde ayer ni desde anteayer; y que huyendo a una de estas ciudades viviese:

43 A Beser en el desierto, en tierra de la llanura, de los rubenitas; y a Ramot en Galaad, de los gaditas; y a Golán en Basán, de los de Manasés.

44 Esta, pues, es la ley que Moisés propuso delante de los hijos de Israel.
