9 El que se quedare en esta ciudad, morirá a cuchillo, o de hambre, o pestilencia; mas el que saliere, y se pasare a los caldeos que os tienen cercados, vivirá, y su alma le será por despojo.

Jeremiah 21:9

He that abideth in this city
Imagining himself safe there; not fearing its being taken by the king of Babylon; though it was so often foretold by the prophet of the Lord that it should: shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence:
by the first of these, in sallying out against the enemy; and by the other two, which raged within the city: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you,
he shall live;
not fall upon them, as the words may be literally rendered; so it would describe such that went out of the city and sallied upon them; whereas it designs such who should go out of the city, and surrender themselves unto the Chaldeans; submit to them, so as to obey them, as the Targum adds; such shall have their lives spared: and his life shall be unto him for a prey;
it shall be like a spoil or booty taken out of an enemy's hands; it shall be with difficulty obtained, and with joy possessed, as a prey or spoil is.

7 Y después, así dijo el SEÑOR: entregaré a Sedequías rey de Judá, y a sus criados, y al pueblo, y a los que quedaren en la ciudad de la pestilencia, y del cuchillo, y del hambre, en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y en mano de sus enemigos, y en mano de los que buscan sus almas; y él los herirá a filo de espada; no los perdonará, ni los recibirá a merced, ni tendrá de ellos misericordia.

8 Y a este pueblo dirás: Así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí que yo pongo delante de vosotros camino de vida y camino de muerte.

9 El que se quedare en esta ciudad, morirá a cuchillo, o de hambre, o pestilencia; mas el que saliere, y se pasare a los caldeos que os tienen cercados, vivirá, y su alma le será por despojo.

10 Porque mi rostro he puesto contra esta ciudad para mal, y no para bien, dice el SEÑOR: en mano del rey de Babilonia será entregada, y la quemará a fuego.

11 Y a la casa del rey de Judá dirás : Oíd palabra del SEÑOR.
