Numbers 18:29

29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.'

Numbers 18:29 Meaning and Commentary

Numbers 18:29

Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of
the Lord
Not only out of their tithes, but out of whatsoever gifts were given by the Israelites to them, and out of the produce of the fields which belonged to their cities, ( Numbers 35:4 ) ; the Levites were to take a tenth, and bring it to the Lord as an heave offering; that is, they were to give it to the priests, to testify their gratitude for everything they had, and to sanctify the rest unto them, and confirm their right and title to it, and give them the free use of it:

of all the best thereof, [even] the hallowed part thereof, out of it;
which was the tenth part, for that Was holy, as Aben Ezra says, and that was to be the best of it, which was always to be given to the Lord.

Numbers 18:29 In-Context

27 And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you as though it were the corn of the threshing floor and as the fullness of the wine press.
28 Thus ye also shall offer a heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive from the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD'S heave offering to Aaron the priest.
29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.'
30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them: `When ye have offered the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor and as the increase of the wine press.
31 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households, for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.
