The sons of Levi, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. ] Which is repeated from ( 1 Chronicles 6:1 ) for the sake of their posterity, whose names are given in the three following verses, in the same manner as in ( Exodus 6:17-19 ) .

Forsooth Jehozadak went out, when the Lord translated Judah and Jerusalem, by the hands of Nebuchadnezzar the king. (And Jehozadak went into captivity, when the Lord carried away Judah and Jerusalem, by the hand, or the power, of King Nebuchadnezzar.)

Therefore the sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

And these were the names of the sons of Gershon; Libni, and Shimei.

The sons of Kohath were Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.
