Then Jacob left Beersheba,1 and Israel's2 sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts3 that Pharaoh had sent to transport him.

They also took with them their livestock and the possessions4 they had acquired5 in Canaan, and Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt.6

He took with him to Egypt7 his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters--all his offspring.8

These are the names of the sons of Israel9 (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt: Reuben the firstborn10 of Jacob.

The sons of Reuben:11 Hanoch, Pallu,12 Hezron and Carmi.13

The sons of Simeon:14 Jemuel,15 Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar16 and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

The sons of Levi:17 Gershon,18 Kohath19 and Merari.20

The sons of Judah:21 Er,22 Onan,23 Shelah, Perez24 and Zerah25 (but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan).26 The sons of Perez:27 Hezron and Hamul.

The sons of Issachar:28 Tola, Puah,a29 Jashubb30 and Shimron.

The sons of Zebulun:31 Sered, Elon and Jahleel.

These were the sons Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram,c32 besides his daughter Dinah.33 These sons and daughters of his were thirty-three in all.

The sons of Gad:34 Zephon,d35 Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli.

The sons of Asher:36 Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah. Their sister was Serah. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malkiel.

These were the children born to Jacob by Zilpah,37 whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah38--sixteen in all.

The sons of Jacob's wife Rachel:39 Joseph and Benjamin.40

In Egypt, Manasseh41 and Ephraim42 were born to Joseph43 by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.e44

The sons of Benjamin:45 Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim and Ard.46

These were the sons of Rachel47 who were born to Jacob--fourteen in all.

The son of Dan:48 Hushim.49

The sons of Naphtali:50 Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shillem.

These were the sons born to Jacob by Bilhah,51 whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel52--seven in all.

All those who went to Egypt with Jacob--those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons' wives--numbered sixty-six persons.53

With the two sonsf who had been born to Joseph in Egypt,54 the members of Jacob's family, which went to Egypt, were seventyg in all.55
