All his days the wicked man suffers torment,1 the ruthless through all the years stored up for him.2

Terrifying sounds fill his ears;3 when all seems well, marauders attack him.4
22
He despairs of escaping the darkness;5 he is marked for the sword.6

He wanders about7--food for vulturesa;8 he knows the day of darkness9 is at hand.10

Distress and anguish11 fill him with terror;12 they overwhelm him, like a king13 poised to attack,

because he shakes his fist14 at God and vaunts himself against the Almighty,15
