Others went out on the sea1 in ships;2 they were merchants on the mighty waters.
They saw the works of the LORD,3 his wonderful deeds in the deep.
For he spoke4 and stirred up a tempest5 that lifted high the waves.626
They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril7 their courage melted8 away.
They reeled9 and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits' end.
Then they cried10 out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.1129
He stilled the storm12 to a whisper; the waves13 of the sea were hushed.1430
They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them15 to their desired haven.
Let them give thanks16 to the LORD for his unfailing love17 and his wonderful deeds18 for men.
