Dative, "to the one readily judging," correct text, not etoimw econti krinai, "to the one ready to judge," which "softens the rugged original" (Hart). That is Christ apparently ( Romans 1:13 ; 2 Corinthians 5:10 ), but the Father in 2 Corinthians 1:17 . The quick and the dead (zwnta kai nekrou). "Living and dead." Those living at the time and those already dead ( 1 Thessalonians 4:15 ).
