  • a 2:1 - A play on words in Greek, strengthening the sense. The words for 'judgment' and 'condemnest' are from the same root.
  • b 2:7 - Lit. 'good work,' singular.
  • c 2:7 - Not 'immortality;' the resurrection, or change, of the body is looked for; and it is thus a part of Christian truth: see 2Tim. 1.10.
  • d 2:15 - It is not the law, but the work which is written.
