Luke 23:52

This man went unto Pilate,
&C.] Mark says, he went "boldly" to him; (See Gill on Mark 15:43).

and begged the body of Jesus;
knowing he was dead; that he might bury it, as the Ethiopic version adds, and prevent its being inferred with the two malefactors, or abused by the mob.

50 Ed ecco un certo uomo, chiamato per nome Giuseppe, ch’era consigliere, uomo da bene, e diritto;
51 il qual non avea acconsentito al consiglio, nè all’atto loro; ed era da Arimatea, città de’ Giudei; ed aspettava anch’egli il regno di Dio;
52 costui venne a Pilato, e chiese il corpo di Gesù.
53 E trattolo giù di croce, l’involse in un lenzuolo, e lo mise in un monumento tagliato in una roccia, nel quale niuno era stato ancora posto.
54 Or quel giorno era la preparazion della festa, e il sabato soprastava.
