Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a rama caught by its horns.1 He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.214
So Abraham called3 that place The LORD4 Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.5"
The angel of the LORD6 called to Abraham from heaven7 a second time
and said, "I swear by myself,8 declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,917
I will surely bless you10 and make your descendants11 as numerous as the stars in the sky12 and as the sand on the seashore.13 Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,1418
and through your offspringb all nations on earth will be blessed,15 because you have obeyed me."1619
Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set off together for Beersheba.17 And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.
Some time later Abraham was told, "Milcah is also a mother; she has borne sons to your brother Nahor:1821
Uz19 the firstborn, Buz20 his brother, Kemuel (the father of Aram),
Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Bethuel.21"
Bethuel became the father of Rebekah.22 Milcah bore these eight sons to Abraham's brother Nahor.23
