Then God went up from him1 at the place where he had talked with him.
Jacob set up a stone pillar2 at the place where God had talked with him, and he poured out a drink offering3 on it; he also poured oil on it.415
Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel.a5
Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath,6 Rachel7 began to give birth and had great difficulty.
And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife8 said to her, "Don't be afraid, for you have another son."918
As she breathed her last--for she was dying--she named her son Ben-Oni.b10 But his father named him Benjamin.c1119
So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath12 (that is, Bethlehem13).
Over her tomb Jacob set up a pillar, and to this day14 that pillar marks Rachel's tomb.1521
Israel moved on again and pitched his tent beyond Migdal Eder.1622
While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father's concubine17 Bilhah,18 and Israel heard of it. Jacob had twelve sons:
The sons of Leah:19 Reuben the firstborn20 of Jacob, Simeon, Levi, Judah,21 Issachar and Zebulun.22
