Jacob Goes to Egypt

1 So Israel1 set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba,2 he offered sacrifices3 to the God of his father Isaac.4

2 And God spoke to Israel5 in a vision at night6 and said, "Jacob! Jacob!" "Here I am,"7 he replied.

3 "I am God, the God of your father,"8 he said. "Do not be afraid9 to go down to Egypt,10 for I will make you into a great nation11 there.12
