Ephraim will be laid waste1 on the day of reckoning.2 Among the tribes of Israel I proclaim what is certain.310
Judah's leaders are like those who move boundary stones.4 I will pour out my wrath5 on them like a flood of water.
Ephraim is oppressed, trampled in judgment, intent on pursuing idols.a612
I am like a moth7 to Ephraim, like rot8 to the people of Judah.
"When Ephraim9 saw his sickness, and Judah his sores, then Ephraim turned to Assyria,10 and sent to the great king for help.11 But he is not able to cure12 you, not able to heal your sores.1314
For I will be like a lion14 to Ephraim, like a great lion to Judah. I will tear them to pieces15 and go away; I will carry them off, with no one to rescue them.1615
Then I will go back to my place17 until they admit their guilt.18 And they will seek my face;19 in their misery20 they will earnestly seek me.21"
