View In My Bible
4 "I have become a laughingstock1 to my friends,2 though I called upon God and he answered3-- a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless!4 5 Men at ease have contempt5 for misfortune as the fate of those whose feet are slipping.6 6 The tents of marauders are undisturbed,7 and those who provoke God are secure8-- those who carry their god in their hands.a 7 "But ask the animals, and they will teach you,9 or the birds of the air,10 and they will tell you;11 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know12 that the hand of the LORD has done this?13 10 In his hand is the life14 of every creature and the breath of all mankind.15 11 Does not the ear test words as the tongue tastes food?16 12 Is not wisdom found among the aged?17 Does not long life bring understanding?18 13 "To God belong wisdom19 and power;20 counsel and understanding are his.21 14 What he tears down22 cannot be rebuilt;23 the man he imprisons cannot be released.24
