They were carried off before their time,1 their foundations2 washed away by a flood.317
They said to God, 'Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do to us?'418
Yet it was he who filled their houses with good things,5 so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.619
"The righteous see their ruin and rejoice;7 the innocent mock8 them, saying,

'Surely our foes are destroyed,9 and fire10 devours their wealth.'

"Submit to God and be at peace11 with him;12 in this way prosperity will come to you.1322
Accept instruction from his mouth14 and lay up his words15 in your heart.1623
If you return17 to the Almighty, you will be restored:18 If you remove wickedness far from your tent1924
and assign your nuggets20 to the dust, your gold21 of Ophir22 to the rocks in the ravines,2325
then the Almighty will be your gold,24 the choicest silver for you.2526
Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty26 and will lift up your face27 to God.28
