Job 7:6-16 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
6 "My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle,1 and they come to an end without hope.2 7 Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath;3 my eyes will never see happiness again.4 8 The eye that now sees me will see me no longer; you will look for me, but I will be no more.5 9 As a cloud vanishes6 and is gone, so he who goes down to the gravea7 does not return.8 10 He will never come to his house again; his place9 will know him no more.10 11 "Therefore I will not keep silent;11 I will speak out in the anguish12 of my spirit, I will complain13 in the bitterness of my soul.14 12 Am I the sea,15 or the monster of the deep,16 that you put me under guard?17 13 When I think my bed will comfort me and my couch will ease my complaint,18 14 even then you frighten me with dreams and terrify19 me with visions,20 15 so that I prefer strangling and death,21 rather than this body of mine.22 16 I despise my life;23 I would not live forever.24 Let me alone;25 my days have no meaning.26
