1Paul, 1an apostle of 2ChristJesus3by the will of God, and 4Timothy our brother, To 5the church of God which is at 6Corinth with all the asaints who are throughout7Achaia:
28Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the LordJesusChrist.
39Blessed be the God and Father of our LordJesusChrist, the Father of mercies and 10God of allcomfort,
who 11comforts us in all our afflictionso that we will be able to comfortthose who are in banyaffliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
For just12as the sufferings of Christ are cours in abundance, soalso our comfort is abundantthroughChrist.
But if we are afflicted, it is 13for your comfort and salvation; orif we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patientenduring of the samesufferingswhich we alsosuffer;
and our hope for you is firmlygrounded, knowing that 14as you are sharers of our sufferings, soalso you are sharers of our comfort.
For 15we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our 16affliction which came to us in d17Asia, that we were burdenedexcessively , beyond our strength, so that we despairedeven of life;
9eindeed, we had the sentence of deathwithinourselvesso that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;
10who18delivered us from sogreat a peril of death, and will deliver us, fHe 19on whom we have set our hope. And He will yetdeliver us,
you alsojoining in 20helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by 21manypersons on our behalf for the favorbestowed on us through the prayers of many.
For our gproudconfidence is this: the testimony of 22our conscience, that in holiness and 23godlysincerity, 24not in fleshlywisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especiallytoward you.
For we writenothingelse to you thanwhat you read and understand, and I hope you will understand25until the end;
14just as you alsopartially did understand us, that we are your reason to be proud as you also are ours, in 26the day of our LordJesus.
In thisconfidence I intended at first to 27come to you, so that you might htwicereceive a i28blessing;
16jthat is, to 29passkyour way into 30Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be 31helped on my journey to Judea.
17Therefore, I was not vacillating when I intended to do this, was I? Orwhat I purpose, do I purpose32according to the flesh, so that with me there will be yes, yes and no, no at the same time?
But as 33God is faithful, 34our word to you is not yes and no.
For 35the Son of God, ChristJesus, who was preachedamong you by us-by me and 36Silvanus and 37Timothy -was not yes and no, but is yes38in Him.
For 39as many as are the promises of God, 40in Him they are yes; thereforealsothrough Him is 41our Amen to the glory of Godthrough us.
21Now He who 42establishes us with you in Christ and 43anointed us is God,
who also44sealed us and 45gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a lpledge.
But 46I callGod as witnessmto my soul, that 47to spare you I did not comeagain to 48Corinth.
Not that we 49lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are 50standingfirm.
