When they had set a day for Paul, they came to him at 1his lodging in largenumbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly2testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerningJesus, 3from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morninguntilevening.

4Some were being persuaded by the thingsspoken, but otherswould not believe.

And when they did not agree with oneanother, they began leaving after Paul had spokenone parting word, "The HolySpiritrightlyspokethroughIsaiah the prophet to your fathers,

saying, '5GO TO THISPEOPLE AND SAY, "6YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; AND YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE;

7FOR THE HEART OF THISPEOPLE HAS BECOMEDULL, AND WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELYHEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES; OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, AND HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM."'
