11Therefore be imitators of God, as belovedchildren ;
2
and 2walk in love, just as Christalso3lovedayou and 4gaveHimself up for us, an 5offering and a sacrifice to Godbas a 6fragrantaroma.
3
But 7immoralitycoranyimpurityorgreed must not even be namedamong you, as is proper among dsaints ;
4
and there must be no 8filthiness and sillytalk, orcoarsejesting, which9are not fitting, but rather10giving of thanks.
5
For this you know with certainty, that 11noeimmoralorimpurepersonorcovetousman, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom12of Christ and God.
613Let noonedeceive you with emptywords, for because of thesethings14the wrath of Godcomes upon 15the sons of disobedience.
7Therefore do not be 16partakers with them;
8
for 17you were formerly18darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord ; walk as 19children of Light9
(for 20the fruit of the Light consists in all21goodness and righteousness and truth ),
10f22trying to learnwhat is pleasing to the Lord.
1123Do not participate in the unfruitful24deeds of 25darkness, but insteadeveng26expose them;
12
for it is disgracefuleven to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
13
But allthingsbecomevisible27when they are hexposed by the light, for everything that becomesvisible is light.
14
For thisreasoniit says, "28Awake, sleeper, And arise from 29the dead, And Christ30will shine on you."
15Thereforejbe carefulhow you 31walk, not 32as unwisemen but as wise,
16k33making the most of your time, because34the days are evil.
17Sothen do not be foolish, but 35understandwhat the will of the Lord is.
18
And 36do not getdrunk with wine, lfor that is 37dissipation, but be 38filled with the Spirit,
1939speaking to moneanother in 40psalms and 41hymns and spiritual42songs, 43singing and makingmelody with your heart to the Lord ;
2044alwaysgivingthanks for allthings in the name of our LordJesusChrist to n45God, even the Father ;
21o46and be subject to oneanother in the p47fear of Christ.
Marriage Like Christ and the Church
2248Wives, 49be subject to your ownhusbands, 50as to the Lord.
23
For 51the husband is the head of the wife, as Christalso is the 52head of the church, He Himself53being the Savior of the body.
24
But as the church is subject to Christ, soalso the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
2554Husbands, love your wives, just as Christalsoloved the church and 55gaveHimself up for her,
2656so that He might sanctify her, having 57cleansed her by the 58washing of water with 59the word,
27
that He might 60present to Himself the churchqin all her glory, havingnospotorwrinkleoranysuchthing ; but that she would be 61holy and blameless.
28Sohusbandsoughtalso to 62love their ownwives as their ownbodies. He who loves his ownwifeloveshimself ;
29
for nooneeverhated his ownflesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christalso does the church,
30because we are 63members of His 64body.
3165FOR THISREASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOMEONEFLESH.
32Thismystery is great ; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
33Nevertheless, eachindividual among you also is to 66love his ownwife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she r67respects her husband.
