Then 1Josephwent in and toldPharaoh, and said, "My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds and all that they have, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of 2Goshen."
He tookfivemen from among his brothers and 3presented them to Pharaoh.
Then Pharaohsaid to his brothers, "4What is your occupation?" So they said to Pharaoh, "Your servants are 5shepherds, both we and our fathers."
They said to Pharaoh, "6We have come to sojourn in the land, for there is nopasture for your servants'flocks, for 7the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now, therefore, please let your servantsa8live in the land of Goshen."
Then Pharaohsaid to bJoseph, "Your father and your brothers have come to you.
"The land of Egypt is cat your disposal; dsettle your father and your brothers in 9the best of the land, let them elive in the land of Goshen; and if you knowany10capablemen among them, then fput them in charge of my livestock."
Then Josephbrought his fatherJacob and gpresented him to Pharaoh; and Jacob11blessedPharaoh.
8Pharaohsaid to Jacob, "Howmanyhyears have you lived?"
So Jacobsaid to Pharaoh, "The i12years of my sojourning are one hundred and jthirty; few and kunpleasant have been the lyears of my life, nor have they mattained13the nyearsothat my fatherslived during the days of their sojourning."
And Jacob14blessedPharaoh, and went out from phis presence.
So Josephqsettled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in 15the best of the land, in the land of 16Rameses, as Pharaoh had ordered.
12Joseph17provided his father and his brothers and all his father'shousehold with rfood, according to their littleones.
Now there was nosfood in all the land, because the famine was verysevere, so that 18the land of Egypt and the land of Canaanlanguishedbecause of the famine.
1419Josephgatheredall the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan for the grainwhich they bought, and Josephbrought the money into Pharaoh'shouse.
When the money was allspent in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptianscame to Josephtand said, "Give us ufood, for 20why should we die in your presence? For our moneyvis gone."
Then Josephsaid, "Give up your livestock, and I will give you food for your livestock, since your moneywis gone."
So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Josephgave them xfood in exchange for the horses and the yflocks and the herds and the donkeys; and he zfed them with aafood in exchange for all their livestockbbthat year.
When that year was ended, they came to him the ccnextyear and said to him, "We will not hide from my lord that our money is allspent, and the ddcattle are my lord's. There is nothinglefteefor my lordexcept our bodies and our lands.
19"Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for fffood, and we and our land will be slaves to Pharaoh. So give us seed, that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate."
