1
For thisreason we mustpaymuchcloserattention to awhat we have heard, so that 1we do not driftaway from it.
2
For if the word2spokenthrough3angelsprovedbunalterable, and 4everytransgression and disobediencereceived a justc5penalty,
36how will we escape if we neglectsogreat a 7salvation ? dAfter it was at the first8spokenthrough the Lord, it was 9confirmed to us by those who heard,
4God also testifying with them, both by 10signs and wonders and by 11variousemiracles and by f12gifts of the HolySpirit13according to His own will.
Earth Subject to Man
5
For He did not subject to angelsg14the world to come, concerningwhich we are speaking.
6
But one has testified15somewhere, saying, "16WHAT IS MAN, THAT YOU REMEMBER HIM ? OR THE SON OF MAN, THAT YOU ARE CONCERNEDABOUT HIM?
7
"17YOU HAVE MADE HIM hFOR A LITTLEWHILELOWERTHAN THE ANGELS ; YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, iAND HAVE APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS ;
818YOU HAVE PUTALLTHINGS IN SUBJECTIONUNDER HIS FEET." For in subjectingallthings to him, He leftnothing that is not subject to him. But now19we do not yetseeallthingssubjected to him.
Jesus Briefly Humbled
9
But we do see Him who was 20madejfor a littlewhilelowerthan the angels, namely, Jesus, 21because of the suffering of death22crowned with glory and honor, so that 23by the grace of God He might 24tastedeath25for everyone.
10
For 26it was fitting for Him, 27for whom are allthings, and throughwhom are allthings, in bringingmanysons to glory, to 28perfect the k29author of their salvationthroughsufferings.
11
For both He who 30sanctifies and those who 31are lsanctified are all32from one Father; for whichreason He is not ashamed to call them 33brethren,
12saying, "34I WILL PROCLAIM YOUR NAME TO MY BRETHREN, IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION I WILL SING YOUR PRAISE."
13
And again, "35I WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM." And again, "36BEHOLD, I AND THE CHILDRENWHOMGOD HAS GIVEN ME."
14Therefore, since the childrenshare in m37flesh and blood, 38He Himselflikewisealsopartook of the same, that 39throughdeath He might renderpowerless40him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15
and might free those who through 41fear of death were subject to slaveryall their lives.
16
For assuredly He does not ngivehelp to angels, but He giveshelp to the odescendant of Abraham.
17Therefore, He phad42to be madelike His brethren in allthings, so that He might 43become a merciful and faithful44highpriest in 45things pertaining to God, to 46makepropitiation for the sins of the people.
18
For since He Himself was 47tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.
