1aNow whenJerusalem was capturedb1in the ninthyear of Zedekiahking of Judah, in the tenthmonth, Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon and all his armycame to Jerusalem and laidsiege to it;
in the eleventhyear of Zedekiah, in the fourthmonth, in the ninth day of the month, the city wall was 2breached.
Then all the 3officials of the king of Babyloncame in and satdown at the 4MiddleGate: Nergal-sar-ezer, Samgar-nebu, Sar-sekim the cRab-saris, Nergal-sar-ezer the dRab-mag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.
4WhenZedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of warsaw them, they 5fled and went out of the city at night by way of the king'sgarden through the gate6between the two walls; and he went out toward the eArabah.
But the army of the 7Chaldeanspursued them and overtookZedekiah in the 8plains of Jericho; and they seized him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon at 9Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passedsentence on him.
Then the 10king of Babylonslew the sons of Zedekiah11before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylon also slewall the 12nobles of Judah.
He then 13blindedZedekiah'seyes and bound him in 14fetters of bronze to bring him to 15Babylon.
The Chaldeans also 16burned with fire the king'spalace and the houses of the people, and they 17brokedown the walls of Jerusalem.
As for the rest of the people who were left in the city, the f18deserterswho had goneover to him and 19the rest of the people who remained, 20Nebuzaradan the 21captain of the bodyguardcarried them into exile in Babylon.
But some of the 22poorestpeoplewhohadnothing , 23Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguardleftbehind in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fieldsgat that time.
