281One of the scribescame and heard them arguing, and 2recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Whatcommandment is the aforemost of all?"
29Jesusanswered, "The foremost is, '3HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONELORD;304AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'31"The second is this, '5YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is noothercommandmentgreater than these."32
The scribesaid to Him, "Right, Teacher; You have trulystated that 6HE IS ONE, AND THERE IS NOONEELSEBESIDES HIM;
337AND TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL THE HEART AND WITH ALL THE UNDERSTANDING AND WITH ALL THE STRENGTH, AND TO LOVE ONE'S NEIGHBOR AS HIMSELF, 8is muchmore than allburntofferings and sacrifices."
When Jesussaw that he had answeredintelligently, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God."9After that, noone would venture to ask Him anymorequestions.

3815In His teaching He was saying: "Beware of the scribes who like to walkaround in longrobes, and like 16respectful greetings in the marketplaces,39and chiefseats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets,4017who devourwidows'houses, and for appearance'ssakeofferlongprayers; these will receivegreatercondemnation."
4118And He satdownopposite19the treasury, and began observinghow the people were 20puttingemoney into the treasury; and manyrichpeople were putting in largesums.
A poorwidowcame and put in twofsmallcoppercoins, whichamount to a gcent.
43Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, "Truly I say to you, thispoorwidowput in more than allhthe contributors to the treasury;44for they allput in out of their isurplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, jall she had 21to live on."
