21Sixdayslater, Jesustook with Him 2Peter and aJames and John, and brought them up on a highmountain by themselves . And He was transfiguredbefore them;
and 3His garmentsbecameradiant and exceedinglywhite, as nolaunderer on earthcanwhiten them.
4Elijahappeared to them along with Moses ; and they were talking with Jesus.
5Petersaid to Jesus, "4Rabbi, it is good for us to be here ; 5let us makethreebtabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
For he did not knowwhat to answer ; for they becameterrified.
7Then a cloudcformed, overshadowing them, and 6a voicedcame out of the cloud, "7This is My belovedSon, elisten to Him!"
8All at once they lookedaround and sawnoone with them anymore, exceptJesusalone.
98As they were comingdown from the mountain, He 9gave them orders not to relate to anyonewhat they had seen, funtil the Son of Manrose from the dead.
They gseized upon hthat statement, discussing with oneanotheriwhatrising from the deadmeant.
They asked Him, saying, "Why is it that the scribessay that 10Elijahmustcomefirst ?"
And He said to them, "Elijah does firstcome and restoreallthings. And yet how is it written of 11the Son of Man that 12He will suffermanythings and be treated with contempt ?13"But I say to you that Elijah has jindeedcome, and they did to him whatever they wished, just as it is written of him."
