9 »Y la respuesta será: “Porque los israelitas abandonaron al Señor
su Dios, quien sacó a sus antepasados de Egipto, y rindieron culto a otros dioses y se inclinaron ante ellos. Por esa razón el Señor
les envió tantas calamidades”».

1 Kings 9:9

And they shall answer
Who were left in the land when others were carried captive, as were some by Nebuchadnezzar, and who were capable of making the following answer:

because they forsook the Lord;
the worship of the Lord their God, as the Targum:

who brought forth their fathers out of the land Egypt;
which is observed as an aggravation of their sin:

and have taken hold upon other gods:
the gods of the people, as the Targum; of the Gentiles, who knew not the true God:

and have worshipped them, and served them:
even idols of gold and silver, wood and stone; an instance of judicial blindness they were left unto, who had been favoured with a revelation from God:

therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil;
their idolatry was the cause of it, than which nothing is more provoking to God.

7 entonces desarraigaré a Israel de la tierra que le he dado. Rechazaré este templo que hice santo para honrar mi nombre. Haré que Israel sea objeto de burla y de ridículo entre las naciones.

8 Y aunque ahora este templo sea imponente, todos los que pasen por allí quedarán horrorizados y menearán la cabeza con asombro. Preguntarán: “¿Por qué habrá hecho el Señor
cosas tan terribles a esta tierra y a este templo?”.

9 »Y la respuesta será: “Porque los israelitas abandonaron al Señor
su Dios, quien sacó a sus antepasados de Egipto, y rindieron culto a otros dioses y se inclinaron ante ellos. Por esa razón el Señor
les envió tantas calamidades”».

10 Salomón hace un acuerdo con Hiram
Salomón tardó veinte años en construir el templo del Señor
y su propio palacio real. Al cabo de ese tiempo,

11 Salomón le dio a Hiram, rey de Tiro, veinte ciudades en la tierra de Galilea. (Hiram había provisto toda la madera de cedro y de ciprés y todo el oro que Salomón había pedido).
