—¡Tendrías que haber golpeado el piso cinco o seis veces! Así habrías vencido a Aram hasta destruirlo por completo. Ahora saldrás vencedor solamente tres veces.

2 Kings 13:19

And the man of God was wroth with him
Because he ceased smiting, and smote no oftener; for it was revealed to the prophet, by an impulse upon his mind, that by the number of times he smote on the ground, it would be known how often he should get the victory over his enemies; but this was to be left to the king's own will, how often he would smite, and thereby the prophet would know also with what spirit he would pursue his victories, and the advantages he would gain:

and said, thou shouldest have smitten five or six times, then hadst
thou smitten Syria until thou hadst consumed it;
as a nation, as well as routed their several armies:

whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice;
beat them only three times in battle, according to the number of his smitings on the ground.

17 Luego le ordenó:
—Abre la ventana que da al oriente.
Él la abrió, y Eliseo le dijo:
—¡Dispara!
Así que el rey disparó una flecha y Eliseo proclamó:
—Esta es la flecha del Señor
, una flecha de victoria sobre Aram, porque tú conquistarás por completo a los arameos en Afec.

18 Luego Eliseo dijo:
—Ahora levanta las demás flechas y golpéalas contra el piso.
Entonces el rey las tomó y golpeó el piso tres veces;

19 pero el hombre de Dios se enojó con él y exclamó:
—¡Tendrías que haber golpeado el piso cinco o seis veces! Así habrías vencido a Aram hasta destruirlo por completo. Ahora saldrás vencedor solamente tres veces.

20 Después Eliseo murió y fue enterrado.
Unos grupos de saqueadores moabitas solían invadir el país cada primavera.

21 Cierta vez, mientras unos israelitas enterraban a un hombre, divisaron a una banda de esos saqueadores. Entonces en el apuro arrojaron el cuerpo en la tumba de Eliseo y huyeron; pero en cuanto el cuerpo tocó los huesos de Eliseo, ¡el muerto resucitó y de un salto se puso de pie!
