Psalm 141

GNT 1 I call to you, Lord; help me now! Listen to me when I call to you. NIV 1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. GNT 2 Receive my prayer as incense, my uplifted hands as an evening sacrifice. NIV 2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. GNT 3 Lord, place a guard at my mouth, a sentry at the door of my lips. NIV 3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. GNT 4 Keep me from wanting to do wrong and from joining evil people in their wickedness. May I never take part in their feasts. NIV 4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. GNT 5 Good people may punish me and rebuke me in kindness, but I will never accept honor from evil people, because I am always praying against their evil deeds. NIV 5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers; GNT 6 When their rulers are thrown down from rocky cliffs, the people will admit that my words were true. NIV 6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. GNT 7 Like wood that is split and chopped into bits, so their bones are scattered at the edge of the grave. NIV 7 [They will say,] "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave. " GNT 8 But I keep trusting in you, my Sovereign Lord. I seek your protection; don't let me die! NIV 8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death. GNT 9 Protect me from the traps they have set for me, from the snares of those evildoers. NIV 9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers. GNT 10 May the wicked fall into their own traps while I go by unharmed. NIV 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
