Psalm 19

GNT 1 How clearly the sky reveals God's glory! How plainly it shows what he has done! NIV 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. GNT 2 Each day announces it to the following day; each night repeats it to the next. NIV 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. GNT 3 No speech or words are used, no sound is heard; NIV 3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. GNT 4 yet their message goes out to all the world and is heard to the ends of the earth. God made a home in the sky for the sun; NIV 4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, GNT 5 it comes out in the morning like a happy bridegroom, like an athlete eager to run a race. NIV 5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. GNT 6 It starts at one end of the sky and goes across to the other. Nothing can hide from its heat. NIV 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat. GNT 7 The law of the Lord is perfect; it gives new strength. The commands of the Lord are trustworthy, giving wisdom to those who lack it. NIV 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. GNT 8 The laws of the Lord are right, and those who obey them are happy. The commands of the Lord are just and give understanding to the mind. NIV 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. GNT 9 Reverence for the Lord is good; it will continue forever. The judgments of the Lord are just; they are always fair. NIV 9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. GNT 10 They are more desirable than the finest gold; they are sweeter than the purest honey. NIV 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. GNT 11 They give knowledge to me, your servant; I am rewarded for obeying them. NIV 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. GNT 12 None of us can see our own errors; deliver me, Lord, from hidden faults! NIV 12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. GNT 13 Keep me safe, also, from willful sins; don't let them rule over me. Then I shall be perfect and free from the evil of sin. NIV 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. GNT 14 May my words and my thoughts be acceptable to you, O Lord, my refuge and my redeemer! NIV 14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
