Psalm 33

NCV 1 Sing to the Lord, you who do what is right; honest people should praise him. NIV 1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. NCV 2 Praise the Lord on the harp; make music for him on a ten-stringed lyre. NIV 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. NCV 3 Sing a new song to him; play well and joyfully. NIV 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. NCV 4 God's word is true, and everything he does is right. NIV 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. NCV 5 He loves what is right and fair; the Lord's love fills the earth. NIV 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. NCV 6 The sky was made at the Lord's command. By the breath from his mouth, he made all the stars. NIV 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. NCV 7 He gathered the water of the sea into a heap. He made the great ocean stay in its place. NIV 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. NCV 8 All the earth should worship the Lord; the whole world should fear him. NIV 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. NCV 9 He spoke, and it happened. He commanded, and it appeared. NIV 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. NCV 10 The Lord upsets the plans of nations; he ruins all their plans. NIV 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. NCV 11 But the Lord's plans will stand forever; his ideas will last from now on. NIV 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. NCV 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his very own. NIV 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. NCV 13 The Lord looks down from heaven and sees every person. NIV 13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; NCV 14 From his throne he watches all who live on earth. NIV 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- NCV 15 He made their hearts and understands everything they do. NIV 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. NCV 16 No king is saved by his great army. No warrior escapes by his great strength. NIV 16 No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. NCV 17 Horses can't bring victory; they can't save by their strength. NIV 17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. NCV 18 But the Lord looks after those who fear him, those who put their hope in his love. NIV 18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, NCV 19 He saves them from death and spares their lives in times of hunger. NIV 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. NCV 20 So our hope is in the Lord. He is our help, our shield to protect us. NIV 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. NCV 21 We rejoice in him, because we trust his holy name. NIV 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. NCV 22 Lord, show your love to us as we put our hope in you. David's song from the time he acted crazy so Abimelech would send him away, and David did leave. NIV 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
