Psalm 50

GNT 1 The Almighty God, the Lord, speaks; he calls to the whole earth from east to west. NIV 1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. GNT 2 God shines from Zion, the city perfect in its beauty. NIV 2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. GNT 3 Our God is coming, but not in silence; a raging fire is in front of him, a furious storm around him. NIV 3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. GNT 4 He calls heaven and earth as witnesses to see him judge his people. NIV 4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: GNT 5 He says, "Gather my faithful people to me, those who made a covenant with me by offering a sacrifice." NIV 5 "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice." GNT 6 The heavens proclaim that God is righteous, that he himself is judge. NIV 6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. "Selah" GNT 7 "Listen, my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel. I am God, your God. NIV 7 "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. GNT 8 I do not reprimand you because of your sacrifices and the burnt offerings you always bring me. NIV 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. GNT 9 And yet I do not need bulls from your farms or goats from your flocks; NIV 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, GNT 10 all the animals in the forest are mine and the cattle on thousands of hills. NIV 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. GNT 11 All the wild birds are mine and all living things in the fields. NIV 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. GNT 12 "If I were hungry, I would not ask you for food, for the world and everything in it is mine. NIV 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. GNT 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? NIV 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? GNT 14 Let the giving of thanks be your sacrifice to God, and give the Almighty all that you promised. NIV 14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, GNT 15 Call to me when trouble comes; I will save you, and you will praise me." NIV 15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." GNT 16 But God says to the wicked, "Why should you recite my commandments? Why should you talk about my covenant? NIV 16 But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? GNT 17 You refuse to let me correct you; you reject my commands. NIV 17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. GNT 18 You become the friend of every thief you see, and you associate with adulterers. NIV 18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. GNT 19 "You are always ready to speak evil; you never hesitate to tell lies. NIV 19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. GNT 20 You are ready to accuse your own relatives and to find fault with them. NIV 20 You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son. GNT 21 You have done all this, and I have said nothing, so you thought that I am like you. But now I reprimand you and make the matter plain to you. NIV 21 These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face. GNT 22 "Listen to this, you that ignore me, or I will destroy you, and there will be no one to save you. NIV 22 "Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue: GNT 23 Giving thanks is the sacrifice that honors me, and I will surely save all who obey me." NIV 23 He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."
