Psalm 7

NRS 1 O Lord my God, in you I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me, NIV 1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, NRS 2 or like a lion they will tear me apart; they will drag me away, with no one to rescue. NIV 2 or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. NRS 3 O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, NIV 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands-- NRS 4 if I have repaid my ally with harm or plundered my foe without cause, NIV 4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe-- NRS 5 then let the enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and lay my soul in the dust. (Selah) NIV 5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. "Selah" NRS 6 Rise up, O Lord, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies; awake, O my God; you have appointed a judgment. NIV 6 Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. NRS 7 Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered around you, and over it take your seat on high. NIV 7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high; NRS 8 The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. NIV 8 let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. NRS 9 O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous, you who test the minds and hearts, O righteous God. NIV 9 O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. NRS 10 God is my shield, who saves the upright in heart. NIV 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. NRS 11 God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day. NIV 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day. NRS 12 If one does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and strung his bow; NIV 12 If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. NRS 13 he has prepared his deadly weapons, making his arrows fiery shafts. NIV 13 He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. NRS 14 See how they conceive evil, and are pregnant with mischief, and bring forth lies. NIV 14 He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. NRS 15 They make a pit, digging it out, and fall into the hole that they have made. NIV 15 He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. NRS 16 Their mischief returns upon their own heads, and on their own heads their violence descends. NIV 16 The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head. NRS 17 I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High. NIV 17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
