1 We have heard with our ears,1 O God; our fathers have told us2 what you did in their days, in days long ago.3

2 With your hand you drove out4 the nations and planted5 our fathers; you crushed6 the peoples and made our fathers flourish.7

3 It was not by their sword8 that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand,9 your arm,10 and the light11 of your face, for you loved12 them.
