He lifted me out of the slimy pit,1 out of the mud2 and mire;3 he set my feet4 on a rock5 and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song6 in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear7 and put their trust8 in the LORD.
Blessed is the man9 who makes the LORD his trust,10 who does not look to the proud,11 to those who turn aside to false gods.a125
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders13 you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount14 to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many15 to declare.
Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,16 but my ears you have piercedbc;17 burnt offerings18 and sin offerings you did not require.
Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll.d198
I desire to do your will,20 O my God;21 your law is within my heart."229
I proclaim righteousness23 in the great assembly;24 I do not seal my lips, as you know,25 O LORD.
I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness26 and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly.2711
Do not withhold your mercy28 from me, O LORD; may your love29 and your truth30 always protect31 me.
For troubles32 without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.33 They are more than the hairs of my head,34 and my heart fails35 within me.
