the earth shook,1 the heavens poured down rain,2 before God, the One of Sinai,3 before God, the God of Israel.49
You gave abundant showers,5 O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.
Your people settled in it, and from your bounty,6 O God, you provided7 for the poor.
The Lord announced the word, and great was the company8 of those who proclaimed it:
"Kings and armies flee9 in haste; in the camps men divide the plunder.1013
Even while you sleep among the campfires,a11 the wings of [my] dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold."
When the Almightyb scattered12 the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Zalmon.1315
The mountains of Bashan14 are majestic mountains;15 rugged are the mountains of Bashan.
Why gaze in envy, O rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses16 to reign, where the LORD himself will dwell forever?1717
The chariots18 of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands;19 the Lord [has come] from Sinai into his sanctuary.
When you ascended20 on high,21 you led captives22 in your train; you received gifts from men,23 even fromc the rebellious24-- that you,d O LORD God, might dwell there.
