Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?110
Does he who disciplines2 nations not punish? Does he who teaches3 man lack knowledge?
The LORD knows the thoughts4 of man; he knows that they are futile.512
Blessed is the man you discipline,6 O LORD, the man you teach7 from your law;
you grant him relief from days of trouble,8 till a pit9 is dug for the wicked.
For the LORD will not reject his people;10 he will never forsake his inheritance.
Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,11 and all the upright in heart12 will follow it.
Who will rise up13 for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?1417
Unless the LORD had given me help,15 I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.1618
When I said, "My foot is slipping,17" your love, O LORD, supported me.
When anxiety18 was great within me, your consolation19 brought joy to my soul.
