And they sang a new song1 before the throne and before the four living creatures2 and the elders.3 No one could learn the song except the 144,0004 who had been redeemed from the earth.
These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure.5 They follow the Lamb wherever he goes.6 They were purchased from among men7 and offered as firstfruits8 to God and the Lamb.
No lie was found in their mouths;9 they are blameless.10
Then I saw another angel flying in midair,11 and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth12--to every nation, tribe, language and people.137
He said in a loud voice, "Fear God14 and give him glory,15 because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made16 the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water."178
A second angel followed and said, "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great,18 which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries."199
A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast20 and his image21 and receives his mark on the forehead22 or on the hand,
he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury,23 which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.24 He will be tormented with burning sulfur25 in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.
And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever.26 There is no rest day or night27 for those who worship the beast and his image,28 or for anyone who receives the mark of his name."2912
This calls for patient endurance30 on the part of the saints31 who obey God's commandments32 and remain faithful to Jesus.
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord33 from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit,34 "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."
