View In My Bible

A song. A psalm of Asaph."

1 O God, do not remain silent;1 do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. 2 See how your enemies growl,2 how your foes rear their heads.3 3 With cunning they conspire4 against your people; they plot against those you cherish.5 4 "Come," they say, "let us destroy6 them as a nation,7 so that Israel's name is remembered8 no more." 5 With one mind they plot together;9 they form an alliance against you-- 6 the tents of Edom10 and the Ishmaelites, of Moab11 and the Hagrites,12 7 Byblos,13 Ammon14 and Amalek,15 Philistia,16 with the people of Tyre.17 8 Even Assyria18 has joined them to reinforce Lot's descendants.a19 9 Do to them as you did to Midian,20 as you did to Sisera21 and Jabin22 at the river Kishon,23 10 who perished at Endor24 and became like dung25 on the ground. 11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,26 all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,27 12 who said, "Let us take possession28 of the pasturelands of God." 13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff29 before the wind. 14 As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,30 15 so pursue them with your tempest31 and terrify them with your storm.32 16 Cover their faces with shame,33 LORD, so that they will seek your name. 17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;34 may they perish in disgrace.35 18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD 36-- that you alone are the Most High37 over all the earth.38
