There is a principle we like to apply to many areas of our lives, especially when it comes to giving. But this principle goes beyond just what we give, it really applies to everything we do. That principle I am talking about is the principle of sowing and reaping. Here is what the Bible says.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows” (Galatians 6:8).

In its most basic form, sowing is what you put in, reaping is what you get out. I want to take this principle and apply it to some areas of life where we need to reinforce that.

On any given Sunday morning people will gather around the world in all different types of churches. Included in this menu of churches is what are known as non-denominational churches. In short, non-denominational means they are not connected to a specific denomination. Some may find this appealing, and others may find this confusing, but regardless, let’s learn more of what non-denominational really means.

God’s requirement is not that we keep most of the law but all of it. When you break one law, it is the same as if you have broken them all. For this reason, we are all sinners because there is not one of us who has kept the entire law perfectly, except for Jesus.

For many when you are confronted with evil, a typical response and if we are honest probably the most desired response, is to strike back with evil. Yet despite this natural desire to want to strike back, God desires us to have a different reaction wanting us to overcome evil with good.

Most people who are believers are fully aware that we are immersed in a spiritual battle with the enemy we know as Satan. You are probably very familiar with Ephesians 6:12.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

Somehow amid this struggle it seems like many Christians are becoming victims of one of the schemes of Satan. It feels like this one trick of the enemy is trapping more Christians than ever before. That trick is distraction.

When Jesus left the earth, he really left one major instruction for the church. Go and make disciples (Matt. 28:19). This is the primary and chief function of those who call themselves believers in Jesus Christ.

Isn’t it fascinating that the defining mark of your discipleship is not what you say but how you love? Your love of Jesus is not displayed by how you argue, who you vote for, or even what angers you. The greatest example and proof that we can offer to the world that demonstrates who we are in Christ is the way we love each other, and by extension the way we love the people of the world.

There is something that happens when the people of God begin to worship. When you engage in worship, you are telling God that you are desiring to draw near to him. When this happens, not only does God find pleasure in that, but he has promised to draw near to you.

Everybody loves a good wedding story, and there is nothing better than two people falling in love and deciding to bind their love in marriage. Oh, the romance of it all.

Unfortunately, as we know, all marriages don’t last. Some end because death does them part, and for many others they end through divorce. Regardless of how you got there, whether through death or divorce, you may find yourself in a situation where you have gone from being married to being unmarried. For many people in this position, they may desire to get remarried, but what does the Bible say about remarriage and how can you apply this to your life if you are in this situation?

Does the Bible Allow Remarriage?

Before I go further, I want to be clear of what marriage is. The Biblical definition of marriage is a legally and spiritually binding contract between one man and one woman. When it comes to marriage, I know we like to focus on the love part, but the truth is when you get married, you are taking a binding oath – before God, before the law, and before men. This oath is your agreement to be committed to one person for as long as you both shall live.

Now that we have defined that let’s consider the question of getting remarried. What the Bible says about remarriage is that yes, it is possible. A person can get remarried, however there are conditions where this is allowable and clear, and there are some instances where the answer may be a little more challenging. Let’s start with the easier one.

The first thing you have to come to grips with is that your desire to date or even remarry is perfectly fine, healthy, and normal. If you decide to date again, don’t feel guilty because there is nothing wrong with you. Most importantly, don’t feel like you are cheating on or betraying your spouse because you are not.

What we miss sometimes is that grace goes beyond our salvation. Everything we do after we are saved is because of God’s grace. Grace does not just represent God’s unmerited favor for salvation, it also represents God’s unmerited power to help us do the things he has called us to do.

It is possible you have heard people offering up prayers, and within the prayer they would begin to decree and declare. Often the prayer may go something like this,

“I decree in the name of Jesus that healing is coming to my body.

I declare that my finances will be multiplied tenfold in the next year.”

Whether you have heard this type of praying before, the question that remains is what does it mean to decree and declare, and is it Biblical? Are the people who decree and declare when they pray, praying in line with what God has established in his word? Or are they praying amiss? With something as important as prayer this is something that you simply cannot afford to get wrong. Let’s see if we can set the record straight.

On Sundays (and some Saturday nights) in churches across the country, people are gathering again. If your church is a more contemporary church, there may be flashing lights and smoke – almost as if a concert experience is about to begin. Usually, the high energy of the opening leads to a fast-paced song that gets people up, involved and excited about the service. After the praise and worship set there may be some announcements and then we hear a word from the pastor, there is a prayer and afterward people leave and go home to face their week.

All of this happens in about ninety minutes. Now this may not be your church experience and I am not saying every church operates in this fashion. However, when I think about the goal of church and compare that to what we are doing today, I wonder if we are “doing church” the right way.

Whenever you talk about prophecy, many people’s ears perk up because it’s a topic which captures their attention. However as high as the interest is in prophecy, I would argue that many people don’t understand prophecy and miss altogether what makes something a prophecy.

While prophecy has its place, if you don’t understand it then it can actually be destructive to you. The core of prophecy is about God speaking, and that alone can be an encouragement. But if misused, it can also shipwreck your faith.
