However you choose to celebrate this Easter, remember that Jesus has risen and we can enjoy His victory each and every day. Create an atmosphere of open discussion and prayer. Be inventive and try or create a new activity for your children or grandchildren. No one is ever too young to learn about Jesus’ gift of salvation to the world. Happy Easter!

Earlier today I came to realize that Easter Sunday is only a few days away. Although this is an exciting holiday, sometimes I feel as if the day comes and goes without truly pondering the significance of the death and resurrection of Jesus for my personal sins. As a result, this year, I have determined to focus on how I can love God back this Easter for all that He has done for me. I have decided that this is not only a one-week decision, but hopefully a continual lifestyle that I can reflect on each week. This comes down to loving the Lord with all of my heart, my soul, my mind, and loving my neighbor as myself.

Matthew 22:34-40 says, “Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ Jesus replied ’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The Israelites did not sit in their guilt over their sins. They confessed, worshiped, and turned from them. This is key for us as believers in Christ Jesus, to know that He has set us free from all of our sins and we do not have to live in the past.

Do you look forward to heaven? If I am being honest, my heart can be so focused on the now and building my “earthly kingdom” that I often miss the joy of focusing my thoughts and heart on eternal joys.

Are we bugging God when we pray about the same thing? No. He loves for his children to talk with Him. I think some deeper questions here could be, “Does God hear me if He is not answering my prayers.” “Am I praying for something in line with God’s will?” “What is the Lord cultivating in me through praying?”
