Philippians 2:9-11 tells us that at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow, and that doesn't just include us here on earth. The Apostle Paul specifies that this includes those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. So just what does this verse mean, and why is it so important that every knee will bow? 

When you see a rainbow in the sky, you may pause to admire it, but did you know that it is a holy covenant from God? Truly, the rainbow is more than just a beautiful natural phenomenon. It is a promise from God that He made after the flood, that He would never destroy the earth by a flood again. Let's take a deeper look at this story, and what God's wonderful promise means for us today.

Churches have been impacted in a variety of ways as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prayer is one of the most intimate ways we can connect to God. In prayer we share our feelings, our thoughts, our deepest concerns and fears, and what we are most grateful for in life. When we spend time in prayer, we hear from God and make space for the Spirit to guide our steps and transform our hearts. Scripture teaches that God is truly just a prayer away, and what a privilege it is for us to be so close to God.

One fascinating feature of prayer is that it is unique between every person and God. No one prays quite the same. Each of us may find ourselves praying in a different way depending on the situation, the need, or what we have to say to God. You may wonder how many different types of prayers there are. We can look to Scripture to discover at least ten notable kinds of prayers.

Movies and literature are filled with good revenge stories. Part of the reason we love them so much is that thirst for justice - when we are wronged, we often want the other person to suffer as much as we did. But the Bible says that revenge is solely for the Lord. Are there exceptions to this? If not, what can we do instead of seeking revenge? 

God’s design for humanity is goodness, fruitfulness, and harmony. As followers of Christ, despite the broken and evil affairs of the world, we still have the unique opportunity to promote unity, foster unconditional love, and share the message of real hope in Jesus.

One of Jesus' final commands before he went to the cross was "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." It sounds easy for us, but to the disciples and early church, this was a radical charge. So what exactly does it look like for us to love others like Jesus does?

The popular phrase “everything happens for a reason” gets said a lot by Christians and non-Christians alike. When something happens to us in life, we may wonder if there is a deeper reason behind it. Most of us may have felt at times that something happened according to God’s good and gracious plans. But does the idea that everything happens for a reason align with what the Bible teaches?

God is sovereign and in control of all things. What God orchestrates and allows is meaningful, significant, and purposeful. Though everything may not happen for a reason, what we find in the Bible is that God will redeem us, restore us, help us, and cause a good outcome for those of us who love him and follow Him.

Psalm 19 is one of my favorite Psalms to read, pray, and meditate on. It is full of striking truth and beautiful praises to the Lord. The words of this passage captivate and comfort its readers. The very first verse in Psalm 19 takes our attention.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (Psalm 19:1).

This verse is profound, indeed, but what exactly does it mean? King David wrote the powerful words found in this chapter; it contains words that cause our minds to wonder and our hearts to consider what we really come to know about God from this Psalm.

When David wrote the beginning of this Psalm, I can imagine him looking around, admiring the grandiosity of nature – the clear blue sky, the array of colors, and the vast night sky filled with hundreds and hundreds of glistening stars. What David meant in this verse is that the creation of God, the beauty and awe of nature, shows us the work of God and the existence of God. Nature unashamedly proclaims that God is real and He is our Creator.

Mother’s Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate and show extra love to mothers, mother figures, and the women who have helped raise us, guide us, and invest in us. Motherhood is a gift and mothers are certainly close to God’s heart as being tasked with one of the most significant responsibilities one will ever hold, to raise a child.

Mothers provide the shoulders we cry on, the ears that listen to every concern and joy. They feed us, they nurture us, and they pass on their faith. Motherhood is truly deserving of such a holiday for mothers to be recognized and honored. We can look to the Bible and find a wealth of wisdom and hope for women on Mother’s Day.

Marriage has a variety of meanings around the world and across different cultures. For Christians to understand what marriage really is, they can look to God’s word, the Holy Bible, for answers and direction. At times, we find that societal beliefs about marriage may be in complete opposition to what the Bible teaches.

In the Book of Genesis, where marriage is first made mention to, we read that marriage is a man and woman becoming one flesh. God blessed man and woman and instructed them to be fruitful and multiply. The first couple chapters of the Bible provide a beautiful picture that describes the sacred union of man and woman called marriage.
