Purpose:  Individually evaluate if you are or are not conforming to God's Word
Objective: Determine what you do best and what God wants you to change

First Day:

Each one SILENTLY EVALUATE his/her own truthfulness.

Consider the following:

Do you always tell the truth?
Do you tell lies that you don't believe will hurt anything or anyone (little white lies)?
Do you ever lie to justify something you have done (self-defense)?

Each one SILENTLY RATE himself/herself on the following Truthfulness Scale:

  1                        5                      10
Seldom         Sometimes            Always

If you feel comfortable with sharing your silent thoughts, do so.  Otherwise, end this session by choosing and writing down the words in the spaces below.

Be prepared to recite your memory verse next week.

Without revealing your rating, in the spaces below write down several words that best describe your family's truthfulness.

Second Day:

SILENTLY ask yourself the following:
When it comes to telling the truth, are you a good example to other family members?
When it comes to telling the truth, are you a good example to your friends, neighbors, fellow workers, bosses, teachers, government leaders, etc.?
How do you think that God views your behavior as it pertains to your truthfulness?

Read I John 1:9 aloud:
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

All family members close your eyes and silently name to God any unwise acts or unwise decisions that need to be confessed.

Don't forget to practice your memory verses.

In the spaces below, write down several words that best describe what your family needs to do to conform to God's Word about truth.

Third Day

Read these scripture references aloud.
Eph 4:25  Rid yourself of lying and speak truthfully.
Ps 86:11  Learn God's ways so that you can live by His truths.
Jn 4:23  Worship God in your heart and in truth.
Josh 24:14  Serve God with sincerity and in truth.
1 Pet 1:22  Be obedient to God's truth by loving one another with a clean heart.
Zech 8:16  Judge others with truthfulness.
Prov 3:3  Keep God's truth securely in your heart.
Isa 38:19  Teach your children in God's truth.

Which of these do you do best and why?  Share your answers.

In the spaces below, write down several words that best describe what your family does best.

Fourth Day

From the "Third Day" List, everyone select one quality that you know God wants you to change.

Read Romans 8:1 aloud:
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Each one share your selection.

Read I John 5:14-15 aloud:
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us -- whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him."

Each person take 30 seconds to pray silently, and ask God to give you the power to change your behavior to conform to His Word.

Write down several words that best describe how your family feels right now.
