And after certain years
Two years, according to the Syriac and Arabic versions, or in the third year after the affinity was contracted, see ( 1 Kings 22:2 ) ,

he went down to Ahab to Samaria;
to pay him a visit upon the alliance, civil and matrimonial, contracted between them:

and Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people
that he had with him;
entertained him and his retinue in a very grand and liberal manner:

and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead;

1 Josafat tenía grandes riquezas y gloria; se emparentó con Acab,

2 y algunos años después descendió a Samaria para visitar a Acab. Y Acab mató muchas ovejas y bueyes para él y para el pueblo que estaba con él, y lo persuadió a que subiera contra Ramot de Galaad.

3 Y Acab, rey de Israel, dijo a Josafat, rey de Judá: ¿Irás conmigo contra Ramot de Galaad? Y él le respondió: Yo soy como tú, y tu pueblo como mi pueblo; estaremos contigo en la batalla.

4 Dijo además Josafat al rey de Israel: Te ruego que primero consultes la palabra del SEÑOR.

5 Entonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, cuatrocientos hombres, y les dijo: ¿Iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o debo desistir? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Dios la entregará en mano del rey.
